Hackney Carnival 2019

For Dimensions Hackney Carnival is our epic end to our carnival season and as usual Hackney did no disappoint.

The Dimensions dance team have had great performances over the season and could not hold back the excitement for the day.

We were able to put new choreography and concepts into practice and we had a great reception. Dimensions won 1st prize for choreography, which showed how hard all the team worked. Well done everyone!

Finsbury Park Play Day

On the 1st August Dimensions dance team performed a carnival parade in Finsbury Park to start the opening of a new play area with Councillor Hearn. It was a great day and all dancers enjoyed the day and attracted new audiences to carnival and the projects that Dimensions creates.

Haringey Youth Festival 2019

Dimensions dance group performed at the Lordship Rec in Tottenham in the Haringey Youth Festival on 27th July.

Even though the rain threatened to spoil the whole day the clouds held up for the team to do a carnival parade around the skate park, which was great for the team to show the different types of choreography the group had been training in.

The day turned out great and all the different organisations involved joined activities and made the day great.

UKON Children’s Carnival Celebration 2019

On an Epically Hot Summer’s day Dimensions joined many other performers and organisers on the 13th July at the UKON carnival in Barking Learning Centre.

This was the debut of the team’s 2019 ‘A Spoonful Of Sugar’ theme for the Dimensions dance team, who performed their set piece and also led the carnival parade.

The group enjoyed the day and were all excited to do their first performance as a team. The group’s performance was well received and as part of the day we successfully introduced new audiences to the Carnival culture.

Carnival Arts Day with Houndsfield School

Dimensions was asked to join in with the Carnival arts Day at Houndsfield Primary school in May. We worked with members of Pannation Pan Band, led by Maisha she put together an amazing day, where the Year 4’s learn different aspects of Carnival.
The Year 4 classes learnt dance routines with Gemma from Dimensions, Steel Pan with the Pannation Team and Costumes design with their class teachers. At the end of the day they performed what they had learnt in front of their year and parents. Thanks to Maisha putting on a great day and to all the children who participated.

Carnival Expo 2nd May 2016

This year at Carnival Expo, we used our project Dimensions of Culture and it’s workshops to work towards this event. It was a weekly session where participants learned a number of routines, which was then mixed together to form a set. Everyone who committed to it learned a great deal and built confidence in order to perform at the Event.
We also displayed our ‘Dimensions of Power’ themed costumes around the event which was held at the Kia, Oval. Thanks to Andrew from Carnival Expo supporting us.
