Hackney Carnival – 2018 – Main

Hackney Carnival this year was another Epic day, we collaborated with Jamboulay Mas Band. The group met at Hagerstown Park to dress, eat and practice our routines. The parade started late, but all the participants got involved and performed all the way through.

At the judging point the group performed the themed set piece, which was well recieved. Everyone who participated with us really enjoyed the Carnival day and we even had one of the dancers from Colvestone Primary who performed with us for Hackney Kids carnival.

The Dimension’s performing group were given second place for our judging point piece, which excited the team and gave them a boost for future performances.

Thanks to everyone who made the day special. For more information or to join future projects please contact us.

Nottinghill Carnival – 2018

For this year’s Nottinghill Carnival, Dimension’s wanted to be a part of the Carnival in a different way. For 2018 we aimed to be apart of the Opening Ceremony for the Carnival, so we could have more of a role and also impact many audience members that we were not able to access through being in a band.

The day had a great atmostsphere and everyone was excited for the Carnival day to start. We were part of a packed opening ceremony with performances from dance groups, singer Alexandra Burke to name a few.

Due to the success of the performance, we were featured on BBC News and London Live.

Thanks to all the performers that worked hard for months to create the performance piece, Matthew from CVT who supported us throughout and National Lottery for Funding the ‘Showtime’ project.

Hackney Kids Carnival – 2018

This year Hackney Council started a new Kids Carnival. Dimensions worked with Colvestone Primary over 4 weeks to prepare a dance piece for the Carnival day.

Dimensions worked with the Year 4 class, who were very excited for the opportunity to learn something new and also perform for their school, parents and public. The class worked worked hard to put together ‘themed’ Cabaret’ dance pieces.

On the day the Year 4 group was supported by Dimension’s very own dance troop. Both groups worked together to put on a great performance for the public.

The classes hard graft was rewarded, as they were awarded ‘Best Dance’ and were over-welmed at the trophy presentation.

Thanks to everyone involved that made the day a success.

Nottinghill Carnival 2016

For this year Dimensions London’s theme was ‘ Dimensions of Power’ which looked the meaning of power and what we envision when we think of power.
The children’s day was good with all the children making the most of the day, we even had some of the dancers from the Fun and Funky dance school in Romford. The day went without a hitch and the dancers performed at the judging point which was great and had a positive feedback.
The adults day was also a success with our adults performing the routines they had learnt over the previous weeks and looking spectatular in their costumes.
Thanks to all the team who put the costumes together and support for dance workshops.

Big Dance Bus – Westfield Centre

Dimension’s dance group ‘Infusion’ performed as part of the Big Dance Bus at Westfield Shopping centre. It was a good day and no sign of rain. The dance performed a carnival inspired set and got to wear their costumes for the first time in the lead up to Nottinghill Carnival. the group got a superb response, with many onlookers wanting to get involved. Thanks to Big Dance Bus for another great event and to our dancers for a wonderful show.

Working with Sophia Mckay

Dimensions London go the opportunity to work with Sophia Mckay, who was launching her new music Video called ‘Mek ah Step’. Dimensions costumes were used in the video which was amazing and gave her video a great feel. Thanks to sophia and her crew for a great day.

Carnival Expo 2nd May 2016

This year at Carnival Expo, we used our project Dimensions of Culture and it’s workshops to work towards this event. It was a weekly session where participants learned a number of routines, which was then mixed together to form a set. Everyone who committed to it learned a great deal and built confidence in order to perform at the Event.
We also displayed our ‘Dimensions of Power’ themed costumes around the event which was held at the Kia, Oval. Thanks to Andrew from Carnival Expo supporting us.
