Showtime Project – Awards for All

Since starting the Showtime project in October, all the members have been training at Cape Adventure Playground weekly and preparing for the carnival season.

This project was able to mix a unique group of locals, as many of the participants have not been in a dance group or even performed before. The group is also a mixture of ages and abilities, who all worked together with choreographer Gemma to create a set piece using the year’s theme.

All the practice paid off as they debuted their set piece at the UKON Children’s Celebration at the Barking Learning Centre.

The performance went great and all members went away feeling that they have accomplished something and are excited for the upcoming performances.

Nottinghill Carnival 2016

For this year Dimensions London’s theme was ‘ Dimensions of Power’ which looked the meaning of power and what we envision when we think of power.
The children’s day was good with all the children making the most of the day, we even had some of the dancers from the Fun and Funky dance school in Romford. The day went without a hitch and the dancers performed at the judging point which was great and had a positive feedback.
The adults day was also a success with our adults performing the routines they had learnt over the previous weeks and looking spectatular in their costumes.
Thanks to all the team who put the costumes together and support for dance workshops.

Carnival Arts Day with Houndsfield School

Dimensions was asked to join in with the Carnival arts Day at Houndsfield Primary school in May. We worked with members of Pannation Pan Band, led by Maisha she put together an amazing day, where the Year 4’s learn different aspects of Carnival.
The Year 4 classes learnt dance routines with Gemma from Dimensions, Steel Pan with the Pannation Team and Costumes design with their class teachers. At the end of the day they performed what they had learnt in front of their year and parents. Thanks to Maisha putting on a great day and to all the children who participated.
